A dirty and stained A4 sheet of paper, printed with purple images and text in a monospaced font. A logo including a sun, with an ocean wave cresting inside it, in a shape vaguely reminiscent of a tongue ringed by sharp teeth. A large headline reading Last Resort News Report with the tagline Where Else Would You Want To Go? and the date 21st October, Year 2.

Exciting news! For the last few years, we’ve been doing our best to reconstruct and revive the traditions of the Old World that we think are worth keeping around, before they’re lost to memory and become just words on a page. One of these that got lost during the hard years was the tradition of marking the shift from dating to family with a ceremony known as a wedding. Think of it like shifting cabins, only it’s a party instead!
With that cleared up, we are pleased to announce that Rob McConnell, the solo scout, is about to be solo no more! He’s been fetching parts for Erika Hofstadt, the air tank mechanic, for some time now, and apparently electrical storage isn’t all they’ve been working on together!
This weekend, please get on your best clothes and come to the end of the peninsula to witness the wedding of Rob and Erika, followed by a party in the dining hall!
New column
If you’d like to help out, we are planning on gathering a lot of flowers from around the orchard tomorrow (Thurs.) and arranging them in bunches on Friday. Apparently flower arrangements were a big part of it, and we even found an arch for them to stand under. Apparently the Resort had a whole lot of special stuff for weddings, and since we don’t need it for growing beans anymore, we’re going to do it up with flowers!
The ceremony itself will be on Saturday morning, with a day-long party to follow, and a relaxed Sunday to rest and recover! Since the seeds are all in, this doubles as our planting party, but we are also, as always, firmly committed to the principle of “any excuse for a shindig!”
Headline in all caps: Clean and Clear
We can now confirm that our water supply is once again at 100% and as clean as possible! Many thanks to all those who worked hard to drain and fill the tainted reservoir!
