A dirty and stained A4 sheet of paper, printed with purple images and text in a monospaced font. A logo including a sun, with an ocean wave cresting inside it, in a shape vaguely reminiscent of a tongue ringed by sharp teeth. A large headline reading Last Resort News Report with the tagline Where Else Would You Want To Go? and the date 7th October, Year 2.
Headline in all caps: Water Woes
Not a huge issue, but our scouts have made a slightly troubling discovery, and so we’re asking everyone to be careful with the amount of water they use for the next few days! The minimammoth corpse has been removed from the reservoir in question, and it’s being drained and refilled before we put it back into use. Long term, it should be fine, we’re just being as careful as possible!
Headline in all caps: Stay Sharp
With the improving weather, everyone quite understandably wants to get out and enjoy it! We do want to remind everyone, though, to stay watchful when past the inner wall! The outer fence has never been a solid barrier, so keep your blade handy and keep your lines of sight open! That doesn’t mean you have to be paranoid and constantly on guard – you just have to enjoy the flowers and green of spring by looking all around you as you walk! If you are planning something that’ll distract you from the world (new column) around you too much, maybe save that for when you’re inside the walls again!
Headline in all caps: Net Worth
Work is continuing apace on the new beach net, which is hopefully going to give us permanent safe swimming on the small part of the beach that will be behind the new wall! All that wire we drew over the winter needs to be twisted around and through the hemp fibres, to keep the slotters from chewing a gap in the net, so if you need a break from bending down to plant seeds, it’s in the old smithy, up on the wall for easy access!
Headline in all caps: Playing Around
Finally, Julian Sing has a new proposition for us all: a dramatic society! No, not a gossip club, but a group for acting out plays! He’s got several books of plays earmarked from the library and needs a few other stage-minded souls to help him to practise and perform them! He will be meeting aspiring actors this monday evening in the upstairs lounge!
